Did you know that there are some people foods that are perfectly fine to feed your dog? For example, green bears are a good source of Vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium and fiber. Spinach is also good for your dog as it's high in iron and helps fend off cancer. Blueberries are also a healthy option due to their anti-cancer and heart disease fighting qualities. If you want to give your dog a special treat, any of these would a healthy option.
Training Tip of the Month
Is your dog so excited to see you when you come that he/she pees? I call this "Excited Pee' and there is a cure. When you come home, ignore the dog. Don't look at or talk to your dog until he/she is completely calm. Then you can serenely call you dog over to say hello. It may take a little time, but stick with it. Eventually excited pee will be a thing of the past.
Tip of the Month
February is National Pet Dental Health Month! So, let's talk about how to freshen your dog's breath and clean his/her teeth.
1. You can mix one teaspoon of coconut oil with your dog's food.
2. You can give your dog a spoonful of plain yogurt twice a day for fresh breath.
3. Look for commercial chew treats that advertise they help reduce the plaque on the dog's teeth which will keep his/her breath fresher.
4. You can brush your dog's teeth with coconut oil or with a commercial toothpaste made for dogs. (Never use human toothpaste as it can be harmful to the dog.)
Just like humans, a dog's health can be compromised by poor dental hygiene, so be sure to address your dog's teeth. Besides, when your dog has clean teeth and fresher breath, they're so much nicer to kiss!
