It's here again; flea season. Here are so me tips to help you fight the never-ending flea battle.
1. Get rid of fleas in all the life cycles, not just adult.
2. Don't wit until your pet starts scratching. Routinely check your pet for fleas and flea dirt. If fleas or flea dirt are found, bathe the pet with a quality flea shampoo, wash all bedding the pet comes in contact with, and vacuum all floors.
3. Use preventative medicine year round.
4. When all else fails, seek a professional groomer or your veterinarian for help.
Tip of the Month
Did you know that if your dog is too excitable, changing his/her food may help. Dogs that are very active such as working dogs (hunting dogs, police dogs, herding dogs, etc.) need more protein to help build their muscles and repair injuries. Puppies need more protein also to help them grow. Dogs that are not as active, such as most family dogs typically need less protein. Senior dogs or sedentary dogs need even less. If you're not sure how much protein you should be feeding your dog, check with your veterinarian.
