Picture this: it's Thanksgiving Day. You've planned and worked for weeks preparing for this one day with your family and friends. Your guests are just about to arrive and everything is perfect, except for your dog. You just remembered that Fido barks and jumps on anyone that comes through the door and he constantly begs when you sit down for a meal at the dinner table. What can you do? Well, you can always lock him in the spare room so he's not a nuisance. Or, you can plan ahead and contact me to discuss some training options for Fido so he can behave like a gentleman and celebrate Thanksgiving with you, your family, and friends.
Training Tip of the Month
When obedience training your dog there are two words that should be your mantra. The first is patience. You must be patient. The second is repetition. You should expect to do 100 repetitions of the cue you're working on (for each part if the cue has several components) before he/she really knows the skill you're teaching. Patience and repetition. The more patient you are and the more repetitions you do with your dog, the better your dog will learn the cue.
Quote of the Month
"Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at nothing right in your ear." Dave Barry
